Questionnaire / instrument: Love Attitudes Scale – Short Form (LAS-SF)

What does it measure?

Six attitudes to romantic love: passionate (Eros), playful (Ludus), friendship-based (Storge), practical (Pragma), possessive (Mania) and selfless (Agape). You can recognize several styles at once.

Where does it come from?

The Love Attitudes Scale – Short Form (LAS-SF) was published by Clyde Hendrick, Susan S. Hendrick and Amy Dicke in 1998. Our 24 items follow the publisher’s reproduced short form.

How is the result calculated?

Four items are averaged for each style on a 1–5 agreement scale. In our version, higher scores mean stronger endorsement. We use the response direction of the publisher’s form, which reverses the original paper’s direction.

What can the result tell you?

There is no overall love score, diagnostic cutoff or compatibility percentage. The result describes your current attitudes and does not determine whether a relationship is healthy, lasting or right for you.
