Middle range
Your answers fall in the middle of the scale. Jealousy is part of your life, and how much it affects you may depend on the relationship and the situation.
What the score means
The 16 answers are combined into a score from 0 to 100. The three levels describe parts of the answer scale. A score of 70 does not mean you are more jealous than 70% of people.
Where your jealousy shows most
Researchers often describe jealousy as feelings, thoughts and actions. This shows which of the three parts is strongest for you.
Mostly in your feelings
Your jealousy shows most as strong feelings, such as anger or hurt when a partner pays attention to someone else. Feelings are not the same as actions, and noticing them early gives you room to choose what you do.
The three sides of your jealousy
The parts follow the common split into feelings, actions and the insecurity that often lies underneath.
- Jealous feelingsYou get jealous easily, and the feelings can be strong.67
- Suspicion and checkingYou trust your partner and rarely need to check up on them.20
- Fear of losing someoneYou sometimes worry about being left or rejected.60
How you can use this
- Notice what sets off your jealousy. Is it specific situations, people or times when you are tired or stressed?
- Say how you feel rather than what the other person is doing wrong: "I felt left out" instead of "you ignored me".
- Compare your three scores. Is it the feeling, the checking or the fear underneath you want to work on?
What this test can tell you
- The statements come from the International Personality Item Pool, most of them from the item pool behind the CAT-PD, a research tool for personality traits. The grouping into three parts is our own, and it has not been tested as a scale.
- The score has no norms here, so it cannot show how you compare with other people.
- Jealousy is sometimes a reaction to something real. The test cannot tell whether your worry is justified.
- This is not a clinical test. It cannot diagnose anything or say how a relationship will go.
